Archeology

The collection is characterized by finds found during excavations prior to the restoration of the cloister in a peripheral area compared to the urban fabric of the Roman era. Archaeological excavations have brought to light the remains of an ancient domus with precious evidence of daily life; they also documented the transformations of the building, to which the exposed architectural materials are at least partially referable. The fragments of the elegant tableware demonstrate the high standard of living and the economic possibilities of the canonical community, offering interesting data on the import of products from the major ceramic workshops in the Mediterrane-an.
