Sculpture

The museum's sculpture collection includes some important testimonies on early Christianity in Genoa, such as the Lapolus of Santolo (5th century) while it comes from the Church of S. Maria delle Vigne the Concio with angel (around 1160), carved by the hand of a great transalpine artist. Excep-tional evidence of the fourteenth-century monumental sculpture is the Tomb of Luca Fieschi (XIV century), while the scenographic reliquary stat-ues with San Rocco and San Sebastiano, realized by Anton Maria Maragli-ano, illustrate the baroque Genoese, an extraordinary artist particularly skilled in creating lively processional machines for the confraternities and the Genoese churches
