The textile collection is made of vestments that testify to the Genoese art of silk and its ornamental motifs. Particularly precious is a silk velvet chasuble from the late 15th century from the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, a refined an-tependium with the Lamentation over the dead Christ made by an unknown Flemish embroiderer around 1520 and another antependium embroidered in 1582 by Francesco de Ursis on drawing by Ottavio Semino. A splendid example of the Genoese Baroque exuberance is the antependium embroi-dered on a design by Domenico Piola translated into polychrome silk threads of contemporary Genoese painting.
